Join the Pack (JTP) is a countywide campaign to create Responsible Pet Owners.
JTP is sponsored by Animal Shelter Adoption Partners, a local Nonprofit, whose goal is to end unnecessary euthanasia at the SLO County pound (Animal Services).
Fewer animals coming to the shelter would mean no deaths caused by overcrowding and better care of the truly homeless animals.
In the past 3 years, 2,514 pets were returned to their owners after being brought to the pound as strays.
Strays wearing visible ID (a phone number on a collar counts) don't come to the shelter - they get back home. No fines. No risk of euthanasia.
Pets without ID come into Animal Services, and another animal may be euthanized to make room.
If you don't redeem your pet within the 5 day legal hold time, it can be killed!
A simple ID tag is the best pet life insurance policy.
